Elizabeth Weymouth is an investor, founder and private equity pioneer with more than three decades building investment platforms and raising global capital, representing $110 billion in career AUM.
As founder and managing partners of Grafine Partners, the boutique private investment firm she launched in 2019, Weymouth has built a business focused on backing exceptional private equity investors early and generating alpha through innovative investment strategies and strategic partnerships.
Previously, she was a partner at Riverstone Holdings and spent over a decade at J.P. Morgan Private Bank, ultimately as managing director and head of investments for the U.S. Northeast, overseeing $80 billion in client assets and a team of 70.
Weymouth earned a B.A. from the University of Virgina and her MBA from UVA’s Darden School of Business, where she became the school’s first female chair of the board of trustees.
For Weymouth, some of the consequential decisions of her career were also the ones that came with the most uncertainty. Rather than wait for certainty, she learned to trust her instincts and recognize potential where others might not yet see it.
“Many of the best opportunities look unconventional at the time,” she writes. “The decisions that shaped my career most were the ones that felt uncertain in the moment, but where I trusted my own conviction. That mindset ultimately led me to build a firm rather than join one.”
For Weymouth, family is what shapes her the most. “Both of my parents were entrepreneurs, so grit, hard work and building businesses were simply part of everyday life,” she writes. “The accomplishment I’m proudest of, above any title, is being a mom to my three sons. Family is the lens through which I understand everything else: it’s taught me what matters, how to weigh risk against what’s truly important, and that the people around you are everything.”
