Elizabeth Weymouth
Founder and Managing Partner
Elizabeth Weymouth is an experienced investor, founder, and pioneer in private equity with more than two decades of success building investment platforms, raising global capital, and guiding businesses through transformation.
As Founder and Managing Partner of Grafine Partners, the boutique alternative asset management firm she launched in 2019, she and her team are reimagining how sophisticated investors engage with private markets with a disciplined and multi-pronged approach that provides earlier entry into distinctive, high-alpha opportunities. Grafine backs and scales emerging private equity managers and connects institutional investors to direct opportunities – pioneering a model that creates a differentiated ecosystem that is unlocking greater value for investors.
A relationship-driven business builder who embraces innovation and drives creative approaches to investing, Elizabeth has built her career on identifying overlooked opportunities and delivering long-term success for investors. Her previous roles include Partner at Riverstone Holdings, where she helped institutionalize the firm, secured $27 billion in global capital, and sat on multiple portfolio company boards. She also spent over a decade at J.P. Morgan Private Bank, ultimately as Managing Director and Head of Investments for the U.S. Northeast region, where she oversaw $80 billion in client assets and led a team of 70. Elizabeth began her career in London at Willis Corroon, working as an oil and gas insurance broker in the Lloyd’s of London marketplace.
Elizabeth earned a B.A. from the University of Virginia and an M.B.A. from the Darden Graduate School of Business, where she later served as a Trustee for 15 years and became the school’s first female Chair of the Board of Trustees. Recognized as one of Private Equity International’s “Women of Influence” and a life member of the Council on Foreign Relations, she currently serves on the Boards of UVIMCO, Chilton Trust, and Deerfield Academy.
Born in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and raised in New Orleans, Elizabeth attributes her global outlook to formative years spent abroad in the home country of her Danish mother and her grit and resilience is inspired by her father – a WWII POW turned entrepreneur. She is consistently inspired to take “the road less traveled,” a philosophy that helps her spot unique and valuable opportunities for investors.
